Introduction

These modules provide a web-enhanced supplement to an introductory algebra-based statistics course. The Web component of the course consists of a series of modules each covering a statistical topic.

Each module begins with a web page that gives the conceptual underpinnings of the topic. The concept-oriented pages have links or tags to:

The Java demonstrations run within the web browser, whereas the Lisp code runs in a separate window as a helper app to the browser. The hypertext has links to examples, demonstrations, case studies, and exercises. The examples guide the student through the problem-solving or simulation process. The example text, enhanced by plots, describes the principal points step-by-step as the student performs the required tasks. The exercises are similar to the worked examples. Enrolled students can record their answers in a Java-based answer sheet. When answers are submitted, the resulting html-based report is saved on the server and e-mailed to the student.

The following survey will be used to improve the delivery of the Web-based content in Stat 201. Please answer the questions thoughtfully.
